A great accomplishment!

Dreams are Real
Today as I write this article I cannot begin to put into words how proud I am of my son. He has always been the kind of son who has a very kind heart. From when he was a very small child til now he has always put other peoples needs ahead of his own. He had a job at a homeless shelter for quite awhile. While he was there he got to know the people of course just like any job you have. He would go to work daily and see how the men had lost their energy for life and how they were all in despair. That bothered him night after night to where he was losing sleep. He was trying to figure out away to help these men out of their slump. It had to be something though that would not interfere with his work at the shelter however. Well my son always loved sports, even all through high school he was always in one sport or another. It finally hit him okay maybe I could get the men to want to get some sport going here. You see the homeless shelter had nothing at all like that. They had no sport programs what so ever. He sat down and had a talk with a couple of the guys and they said sure we would love it. Hence than began a soccer team. Well they did so good that it has been going for almost a year now. It was created in September 2008 and now they received an invitation to go to Washington D.C. to compete with 15 other teams in the Street Soccer USA Cup in Washington! They have already played against members of the presidents White House Staff. Today is the big game. My son has worked so hard for these men so they could have hope and I am so proud of him. Being the coach and organizer for the team takes alot of his time but I don't think he would have it any other way. He also raises the funds for the trips and he also has to find descent and kind people who want to donate vehicles for the trips. Though he does'nt get paid enough money to keep his home heated he don't care about that he still loves what he does. I do worry about him but he just says, mom it's okay.
