Once again, Emmanuel Pacquiao or plainly Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao of the Philippines proved that he deserves to be known as the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world by winning over Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico at their match at MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The feat earned Pacquiao the WBO Welterweight Division title, making him the first boxer to own seven division titles in world history.

Entitled Fire Power, the duel between the two ring gladiators surely set the boxing ring and arena on fire as they measured each other's strength, speed and fists. They gave the audience and their supporters a very much exciting and entertaining match.

At the weigh-in, Cotto the Champion with 34 wins , 27 Knockouts , and 1 Defeat weighed exactly one hundred forty-five pounds while Pacquiao the Challenger with 50 Wins (38 knockouts, 12 decisions), 3 Defeats (2 by knockout, 1 by decision), and 2 Draws weighed one hundred forty-four pounds.

The bout started with La Diva [wait for my article entitled "A Taste of La Diva"] singing the Philippine National Anthem with their powerful voices and colorful blend of vocals. Ednita Nazario sang the National Anthem of Puerto Rico with emotions while Ramiele Malubay, a former American Idol finalist with Filipino blood sang "The Star-Spangled Banner", The United States of America's National anthem.

The first two rounds were favorable for Cotto because of his good and solid jabs, which was his specialty. He caught Pacquiao in the face countless times and countered some of the Pacman's punches. At one point, Pacquiao's mouthpiece almost fell out, but he was able to make Cotto fall down on his hands and knees twice in the third and fourth rounds.

When round seven came, Cotto was already showing signs of fatigue, which Pacquiao used to his advantage. In the next rounds that followed, Pacquiao played 'it' as he chased Cotto on his bicycle around the ring. Cotto still managed to let out some good punches but still, Manny Pacquiao emerged as the winner via Technical Knock Out as t round twelve when referee Kenny Bayless decided to stop the match upon seeing the clear winner.
